PhD student Shu Lam is a Malaysian-Chinese research chemist, specialising in biomolecular engineering, who has developed a way to a way to kill bacteria without antibiotics. She’s developed a star-shaped polymer that can kill six different superbug strains, simply by ripping apart their cell walls.
